Awesome. What a voyage!

Personally I saw some of the many boat-in only campgrounds around the sound and thought about something similar idea but w/ fishing. Maybe a trip from the south sound up to Whidbey Isl. or something? Just kinda dreaming it at this point but the idea of yaking a bit, setting up camp, fishing that spot, then moving on and doing it over for a week or so sounds like fun. Will have to look into this a bit more but would be an adventure. Always dreaming...  ::)

Zee, Washington Water Trails (www.wwta.org) has all the info you need for a PS overnight adventure, particular info on campsites along the Cascadia Marine Trail (www.wwta.org/trails/CMT/index.asp)

There is a guy down in Tampa Bay doing a 100 mile kayak fishing trip this year to raise money for the American Heart Association ... http://www.paddlearoundthebay.com/.  He is breaking it up over multiple weekends.  I've often thought about something like this.  Perhaps next year.  The "list" is getting too long.

Thanks for the links Pole. Maybe I'll make a few short trips first. Something like shoot across the sound and spend the night at a campsite, fish, and head back the next day. Will have to buy a air horn & a large orange flag fo sure though! :D

I've often dreamed of doing a multi-day trip in the San Juans. I think it would be ideal to do in the spring, before the hordes descend, and while the ling season is open. It'd be possible to start the trip with a ferry ride to the islands.

Sounds awesome. Dunno much about the area but have heard some good stuff. I think w/ the potential around the sound we should try and do something like that.

The journey has come to a premature end.  What a heart breaker!

Ah well, better to make the decision on the inside passage than after you've rounded the cape.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

Aw man.  What happened?  I was looking forward to reading about the trip as well as the planning involved.

sounds like he's got a bad shoulder.

That would have been some kind of adventure. The picture of him paddling through that tiny crack in the rocks is pretty wild.
See ya on the water..

I hate to hear that.  I re-injured my shoulder recently while snowboarding.  I've had cronic shoulder problems for the better part of the last 15 years, although hadn't felt any pain for the last 3-4.  The pain hasn't subsided much and I'm starting to worry about it.  Got a docs appt. early next week.  Fingers crossed.

I seperated my shoulder last year on my sport quad. That sucked, it feels pretty good, but will never be the same. Sold the sport quad shortly after, realizing that im just getting to old for some things.. Now i just stick to puttin around on my utility quad. Thats why i got a pedal Kayak, cause my shoulders couldn't take a full day of paddling.

hope your shoulder feels better. You need to save them for Kayak Fishing...

damn, that has to be a huge deflation of the ego.. others have done the trip, as mentioned, hell just read about it recently in one ofthe kayak magazines i've been buying.. and they all report that it's grueling. can't even imagine what it must be like to do that trip in winter conditions.

yeah, by the look of the xray, his shoulder is toast[ kinda reminds me of the last xray i saw of my knees and lower spine] .. rotator cup/cuff surgery usually takes at least a year to recover from properly. now the question is, i think; will he try again?
