I went to Harbor Freight and pieced together a lightweight, yet fairly cheap, work/camping stand for my outbacks today.

I started with their 200lb work stand,

and added several lashing straps.

Nice.  I have been meaning to get in there and get some stuff.  I may add those to the list.

Seems a bit low for working, but atleast your not working on the ground.

The height is adjustable with the straps and bracing chains.  The picture shows the lowest position possible, but I can raise it up to waist height (I'm 6' 1") and still support the hull evenly.

What did that cost you? I was thinking about something like that but with some scrap 2x4s.

Saw one just like it at a recent trade show, but made out of pvc. You mentioned 200 lb capacity, but the legs look bowed in the picture..Optical illusion?

I'm pretty sure the angle the picture was taken at gives the illusion the legs are bowed.  They would only flex when I pushed hard on the kayak.  But to be safe, I bought two sets.  I wish Harbor Freight had the 500lb stands in stock at the time of purchase, but it's not like I'm trying to sit inside of the Outback while it is on the stand.
