I need to dust off my paddle and get out  in the kayak for the first time this year. I'm planning to go to G.P. either Thursday or Friday and try out my new-to-me T-13 and all the clothing, gear etc. I've been accumulating all winter. Anyone want to meet up? Any Mid-Valley guys out there? I expect to put in at Whitcomb and explore the Quartzville arm for starters.

I haven't fished up there before but have been studying what I can on GP, kokanee fishing etc. Let me know if you want to go. I can go either day and it's supposed to be a bit rainy. Also, if you have any experience up there I'd appreciate any intel on locations, methods etc.

I can join you Friday, what time do you plan to launch?   I'm ready to learn the GP fishing, never been there in a kayak.

This could be a first but we put together and all-Indepedence crew consisting of Indyflyer and myself for a trip to Green Peter to target kokanee. Neither of us had much experience with kokes but we were well studied up ahead of time. We mainly fished with wedding rings tipped with corn and also hootchies. Indyflyer found a new go-to bass lure, the wedding ring tipped with corn.

We caught and assortment of trout and kokanee throughout the day. We lost more kokes than we boated even though we were using snubbers. It was a learning experience.

I want to go back. It was also the maiden voyage of my T-13. That was the one that O2 sold here on the forum last month and it was fully equipped and very nice. I have yet to drill the first hole in the T-11 I got last year. I expect it will be the main boat now and the other will be the "guest" kayak. Got to hose the blood off it today.

It was a good day of fishing.  That's the biggest Bass I've ever caught and a great first fish for my AOTY list.  18 1/2" from stem to stern, C&R so she can add to the population of large Bass in the lake.

The only thing better than having a good day catching what you are targeting is catching something you weren't targeting that will put most of the other AOTY fish in its category (bass) to shame.  Unfortunately, that never happens to me.  The guy who has that luck down to a science is Jammer.  He even almost landed a sea lion yesterday using a salmon as bait.  His problem was he didn't have a stinger hook.

Nice bass and Kokes!

Sure. Just name some Saturday you can go. I'll most likely be around and Indyflyer wants to do it again. Maybe we could get some more folks, too.  I'd like to go again in April or May before the fish get too deep. We just added banana weights and were able to get to the fish. It gets pretty crazy with boats and jet skis and people there during summer. We were miles from the main boat ramp so we didn't even see a power boat until the end of the day and there were only a few. No sea lions either. I think late summer can be good when the pre-spawners hang out in the arms of the lake. That's what I read anyway.

I'm ready to head up there again soon, but my weekends in May are committed to family events so will have to make it on a weekday or two.  Anyone have mid-week time open to chase the Kokanee at GP?

I'm up for another trip either weekend or mid-week with enough notice. I'm out of town this week. Keep me posted. That bass earned a ton of points! I liked the spot we went, too, just because it was so quiet w/o lots of boats. I don't know if it will be like that later in the season.  If anyone is up for organizing a group, that would be great , too. I think I know what changes I need to do now to increase my catch rate. Those kokes were frustrating me.

For being in teeth cutting mode,  you guys killed.

I'd be up for giving GP a try. Prefer weekends but could swing a weekday or 2 if the opportunity arises.

I would love to check out GP sometime!   Thur/Fri work out the best for me.  Let me know as well the next trip you all plan to go out.   8)
