I'm ready to head up there again soon, but my weekends in May are committed to family events so will have to make it on a weekday or two.  Anyone have mid-week time open to chase the Kokanee at GP?

I'm up for another trip either weekend or mid-week with enough notice. I'm out of town this week. Keep me posted. That bass earned a ton of points! I liked the spot we went, too, just because it was so quiet w/o lots of boats. I don't know if it will be like that later in the season.  If anyone is up for organizing a group, that would be great , too. I think I know what changes I need to do now to increase my catch rate. Those kokes were frustrating me.

I would love to check out GP sometime!   Thur/Fri work out the best for me.  Let me know as well the next trip you all plan to go out.   8)

I am about to leave town for a week so, tight lines if you guys get a trip together. I'll probably go again myself on May 10 or 11 which are a Thursday and Friday. If anyone wants to go on those dates, let me know...or Saturdays are good, too.

The 11th works for me.

Yaaawwnnn... Heh, yup, it's been a while. Just crawled out of the rain-soaked hobbit hole in time to scrape the winter growth of algae off the yak.

I took my wife there yesterday and was able to find a few schools of kokanee.  Most of the fish were down 40 ft in the main lake but the guys on the bridge were doing OK for trout.

Indyflyer and I are going back for round two on Friday. I expect we will go back up the Quartzville arm if anyone wants to meet up.

I met up with DTS yesterday and we hit it hard all day long. Here's DTS giving me a case of "hands-free-Hobie-envy".

I didn't get a lot of pictures but here's what I got, 13 kokanee and two trout. No AOTY upgrades for me among them but enough to smoke up a batch.

DTS might have some pic later. It was a great day and nice to meet another fellow kayak angler.

Noah,
I have no idea how deep but I had a 1 1/2 oz banana weight in-line and let it out 50'+ so I'm guessing I stayed in the top 20 ft. the whole time. One thing to consider if anyone goes up is that there is getting to be a ton of people up there now including the jet ski and amplified music crowd as well as a lot more boats than two weeks ago. Probably your best fishing experience would be in the mornings. It was OK and we didn't have a lot of competition but there was definitely a big surge in weekend campers last night.

I stuck with mini squid behind a 4/0 dodger with fire corn and also doused the squid with krill flavored Smelly Jelly every so often for what that's worth. At the end of the day we talked to a boater who started the same time as us and he only had four.

It was an absolutely fantastic day! I Had a great time.  I ended up catching 2 kokanee.   Thanks to C_Run Chris for hooking me up with a squid lure.  I would of not caught any kokanee if it hadn't been for that.  Thanks Chris!  8)

With the wedding ring gear that I was using, I got a ton of bites but no hook ups.  Dang nibblers!  ;D  I also caught three small trout and turned them loose. Only one of them on the wedding ring and the other two on a blue and silver spoon.

Video of Chris showing us all how its done!  8)
