Any advice for Lings close to Oak Harbor?  I'd like to slay them but without too much paddling.  My 14 ft. Malibu Stealth tracks like a tank...  if there are any reachable spots for Halibut, do tell.  My expectations are low for halibut close to shore though.  Area 6, and 8-1 will be my launch spots.

Anxious for opening weekend.

Last year I targeted Hali's in area 9.  You cant forget the west side of the island.  There are a bunch of launching points and you dont have to paddle out very far to targets the Ling's.  For Halibut you may have to paddle out a bit farther but not much.  I am planning on hitting the water the weekend of the 5th(Area 9)  you are more than welcome to join me.  I'm going to try to launch from my neighborhood boat lauch which puts us right in the thick of the fishing grounds with a reletively short paddle/peddle out.  Let me know if you are game.  This also goes for anybody else that would like to venture out with me.

Murf.  Sounds great to me.  Let me know where and when through the old email and I will be there.  I'm opened to pointers as well for bait and such.  I'm converting from an east coast freshwater to a west coast salt guy so I'm opened to all pointers.  I'm active duty Navy...and I have duty that weekend so please be patient with me if I have to bail on you, but right now it looks like a go.  Thanks.

Let's try to keep the secret fishing spot discussions to the Member's Only areas of the forum, like the "WA Fishing Reports", and the "Elders" once you get there.

Visiting power boaters have been known to troll the group and show up at places mentioned.

Maybe I'm just feeling a little grumpy today ...
