+2  what they said.

For a one-sided structural repair or a sandwich, I think I'd substitute G-flex (on a properly prepped surface ) instead of goop or even weldment for that matter.  I've only done a small repair with G-flex, but I was pretty impressed.

In all honestly, where that fix is it isn't a high stressed area due to all the curved material around it.

I  dunno,  you hang a downrigger off that puppy I'd bet you could find some stresses then.  ;D

Whatever you do, it really should be sealed with a sleigh ride sticker to insure proper integrity.

Agree totally!  If he planned to hang a downrigger on that area, I'd highly suggest a full coverage aluminum backer, whatever material he desires topside and G-flex or Goop for the filling.

Hot glue has it's places in this world but not on my kayak.  It probably works fine for some applications, but structurally I don't have a lot of faith in it.  It cools too fast to get 2-6 bolts in the holes, washers on the back and nuts spun on and torqued down.  Depending on the brand or style of Hot glue, it may not have the necessary flex needed post cooling and still hold a seal.

Tap Plastics will cut you a chunk of King Starboard or a 1/4" x 4" x 4" "sample" is $2. Stuff is bombproof.

Dudes, don't underestimate the Slayride sticker.  Just put one over the top and you are done! Side benefit: Mucho Mojo

Here's the repair I've made to my Revo.  A sheet of schedule 80 PVC, stainless #8 bolts, nylock nuts, fender washers, and Goop.

What was going on here, that made such a big hole that needed repaired?

Let's just say I was really good at installing it.  ::)  I'll go into more details when I update my Rigged Revo thread.

Be Clear I'm not Saying use Hot Plastic glue gun For Anything Large Or where you want to Hang or replace Equipment. But it's good for small holes Or filler on( Plastic Kayaks)  , There are Lots of Flexable Expensive Marine Glues, But Epoxy on Plastic is not the best ..  Add as Much as you want for backing, and what ever works best and make you happy. But the 3/4 inch hole some put in the bottom of my old kayak I fixed with a hot glue gun 12 years ago still has never leaked and It has nothing hanging and it is not a stress point area. my repair was Due to someones crappy way of drainage at A Kayak SHOP in Calif where I bought it.
