I was thinking about this on my drive home Friday. I commute about an hour and 15 minutes one way to get to work. That means I usually get home too late midweek to fish anywhere once I get home. I take a good hour for lunch at work and would like to know if there are any small local fisheries in the Hillsboro/west Beaverton area I could bank fish for bass or trout? I don't know that area that well so I thought I'd ask. Thanks!

I live out there, but not much comes to mind. Rood Bridge park, where Rock Creek flows into the Tualatin would be my first guess. Not a dinner fare kind of fishery, though. Powerline Park has a pond. Kids throw popcorn at a few ridiculously large carp. Get some Jiffy pop and have at it! There do exist historical tales of Dairy creek once offering a good fishery, but....ew.  Filth. I'm curious as to what you discover.

Much appreciated Andy. I'm looking to just catch and release whatever I would be fishin for. It would be more for me to get out of the office on my lunch hour more than anything.

Bethany pond at 185th and West Union was rumored to soon produce a state record bass.  McKay creek  has always produced nice cutthroats but access can prove tricky at best.  There is always the pond at the cemetary on T.V. Highway as you enter Hillsboro.

Just came across this. It's south Tron, but looks more legit than poopy carp ponds.

Thank you gentlemen. Bethany Lake is 8 minutes from where I work. I'm Gonna look up what the regs are and what types of fish are in there. Might be a good place to work on my fly rod cast.

Oregon fishing forum has a lot of info on Beth. Sounds like it's general regs with keeper trout possible. Gets weedy when the weather turns warm.  There was a thread on there about Beth having catfish. Could be fun in the evening when the Hagg drives seems miserable...send a report if you hit it.

Careful with the backcast....lots of tall grass.  Should be good practice if nothing else.  You might try a surface popper.

Every once in awhile I would go to Bethany pond and fish off the bank there. You can go home with 4 or 5 keeper trout in a day. I stopped when I did a water study there with my class. Very nasty water results.  Common wealth lake is also a popular place in Beaverton.

Not a bad place to fish at lunch. Stocked with trout and has a good population of catfish from what I hear.

Yep, I read up on the cats. Apparently brown bullheads.  Meh.  I've never gone after them, but I'm not sure those are destined for cornmeal and oil.  Especially if the water is indeed filthy.  Cool that you can go fishing on your lunch break, though.  I wish I could do that.

Well I have a pretty sedentary desk job so I usually walk around the Hillsoro baseball/softball stadium across from the fire station on my lunch. But an hour of that gets pretty boring.
That's why I started inquiring on local fishin spots. I'd rather C&R some fish than walk around for an hour.
Btw, if anyone is interested in joining me shoot me a pm. I'd love some company.

Where do you work if you don't mind?  I work at the intel campus right there, but at night. 185th and west union road would be the closest lake.

Wobbler I went to Bethany lake the last 2 days on my lunch. Still trying to learn the individual lake. So far it looks like all of the trout are being caught off the bottom on power bait and primarily right next to the concrete wall by 185th.
My primary interest isn't the trout it's the bass but I haven't seen anyone fishing for them yet. I texas rigged a small pink Berkeley worm to try to avoid the worms but The weeds are getting pretty bad out there. Any suggestions?

Bluewrx, I work in the Farmers building next to Volkswagen.
