Headed over to work on building a rack for the top of my car rack so I can carry two yaks (Trident 13 and Mini-x) on my 94 accord. :)

Can you not use the regular Thule/Yakima J-shaped holders on an Accord?  Granted the bars aren't supposed to hold the weight of two yaks buuut...

So, here are the pics... I am still trying to figure out how to best attach the yaks so they don't become missiles.

All input is welcome.

I'm no pro but are you sure the roof of that Accord can take the weight of two kayaks? I transport my Hobie Outback on the roof of my Prius on drilled Yakima bases however even with the drilled (as opposed to the clamp-on mounts like you have) anything over 100 lbs is not recommended.
I'm just sayin.. cuz it would suck to loose both of your boats on the road.

It should... 125... I am at 95 with the yaks... the frame that we made today it all made of aluminum - so it is super light.  So i should be good with that part.

Ratchet straps on the bodies and make sure to strap the nose/tail to the front/back of your vehicle.

When speaking of attaching the front and back... does everyone do this?  It seems like I rarely see yaks tied down like that.  Also, would it accomplish the same thing to run a line from the front/rear of the yak to the rack, in addition to the other tie downs.

Tying the front and back to your vehicle also helps if you have a failure with the rack itself.

If I'm just running 10 miles up the rd and staying under 50mph I don't use bow and stern lines. Any further or faster especially on major highways or interstate and they are a must IMO.

Also, be careful with ratchet straps. very easy to over tighten. Long cam straps are the way to go. I found out the hard way that motorcycle straps are no good either...

Ask The Nothing what his thoughts are on this subject.
Sad misfortune testing that out at highway speeds.
