braiding? rope

does anyone know how to braid(if thats what it's called) a loop in the end of that 3 strand rope(Blue Steel)  so it looks real clean ?

Yep, it's called an eye splice.  IT's really not bad and the only way to go with some ropes like polyprop.

btw, was in an ACE hardware today and found hard plastic FIDs in different sizes for $1.50, so if you';re looking for some, might try there instead of that expensive marine supply store you've been thinking about. [ this is a general comment, not aimed at any one person or persons in particular]

i end up going to the marine store alot cause i can practically hit it with a rock..  I was looking at the fids just the other day, there not too bad at my local store, and they must have 25 different types and sizes.

FID squid!  Who needs a FID.  I got a big spool of 1/4" 3 stand poly.  I can do that up without a FID pretty easily.

those splices done in polyprop are awsome when making your own crab ring harnesses thats how my dad taught me how to do it... but I never fully understood it till I was messin around wit some 80lb hollow dacron and figured out how to make my own wind on leaders for jiggin... and let me tell you trying to make a splice in that stuff at midnight with sausage fingers like mine is no small task I'll definately check out that site though, cause you can never know to many knots.
