Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to drop a line and say hello. I moved to Seattle 3 years ago from Maine and finally just bought a kayak last week. When I moved out here I sold my boat and my kayak and have spent the last 3 years fishing from shore. :-[  Now however it's "GAME ON"!  I bought a used tarpon 120 and I'm currently getting her rigged up!
Prior to moving to Seattle and getting a "real job" I spent 8 years guiding in the Gulf of Maine and a couple winters in Key West. I've never targeted any Pacific fish before, but I'm assuming it'll be similar in some ways to the fishing I've done back east.  Besides, the best part about fishing is learning new tactics & locations...

Tight Lines,
                Wayne

Hi Wayne, welcome to the site!

There may be some similarities between Maine fishing and WA fishing, (on the salt), butI can't think of many, off the top of my head. (I've got to admit it's been about 30 years since I last fished in Maine, so my memory might be failing me.) There are no blues or stripers out here, and we don't like seeing mackeral- it means the water is too warm for a good salmon season. But it is fun catching new species, and it's also fun trying techniques from one coast on the other.

Are you going to make it out to the tournement at Neah Bay, this weekend? It would be an excellent way to meet a lot of us, and get a quick crash course on NW fishing.

Unfortunately I'm not going to make it out to Neah Bay this weekend, but I'm going to try to make it out somewhere around Seattle on Sunday morning.

So Wayne,

Did you make it out to the sound on Sunday?  So how'd you do?  Keep an eye on the "Hook-ups" forum.  I think I've still got one more trip I'd like to make out to the Sekiu / Neah Bay area this year.

If at first you don't succeed....  maybe skydiving is just not for you.

No, I went up to the Snoqualmie to do a little steelhead fishing with a buddy of mine. Hopefully this Sunday I'll get out there!
