Heroes on the Water - Portland Chapter

Folks, I'm am very excited to report that the Portland Chapter of Heroes on the Water is officially launched!

Our core leadership team is in place:
Chapter Coordinator - Aytch Roberts (IslandHoppa)
Anthony Stickel (Ling Banger) and Steve Van Dyke (Wobbler).

We need your help! The most important thing for us is connecting with local Vets who would benefit from our activites. We want to start with one or two vets and get them out on the water for some kayak training and fishing. As we continue to build our volunteer base we will plan larger events. If you know a vet, please show them the video and ask if they'd like to connect with us. Have them email: Portland@HeroesOnTheWater.org or call me at 408-966-9682.

If you'd like to volunteer, just let us know. If you'd like to donate funds or gear, we're happy to receive anything that will help us provide a great fishing experience  for our Heroes.

I have a nice large banner, brochures and decals so we can staff a booth to spread the word. If you have any ideas to promote HOW's mission at events, etc. please feel free to make any suggestions.

  That's awesome that you're getting er done.
  Have you thought of setting up a booth at up-coming county or state fairs ? I'd think you could reach out to a lot of folks in one place at that sort of venue.And it is the season.Don't know about any of the logistics but the traffic is usually pretty good.
  Just a little food for thought....best of luck reaching out to our vets.

Ihop, I have four yaks, a pirogue, and a canoe that, barring I am around when you need them, you can use.  Three of the yaks are SOTs and the other is a SINK.  I would also be willing to help out at the events.
