Old' pops wanted to do some fishing so I went with him to the klutina river. It was great. I like it way better there than the Russian or Kenai. Really huge sockeye in the river. This pic was of a small one though. I had them all filleted out so I didn't get pics of the big ones. I also caught a nice king! And I grilled up one of those reds last night and it was outstanding! For you guys in the lower 48 these are copper river reds I'm talking about.

  Nice sockeye Matt
Looks like the guy in the background was flippin not dippin. That is one thing about living in Alaska  that I miss already.Love them reds....uuuummmm good eating.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

It's a tackle only river. No dip netting

Love reds! I've been learning how to pull them out of Resurrection Bay these last two weeks -- enjoying fresh fish a lot lately! But those Copper River beauties look to have more girth to them. Nice fish Matt

Would love to. Maybe we can do a swap. You come south for ORC and we'll head north?

Let's work on that! I'm enjoying the idea of the ORC just from reading through the threads as the excitement builds. Hoping that we Alaskans can build here the kind of kayak fishing community you have there.  And that someday we host the ultimate kayak fishing halibut tourney. After reading about your regulatory limits, I think our abundance and access would lure a few of you northward.

That would be awesome!  It would be great to see a few of the AK make it down.

Sorry about the slight thread jack, Matt. Nice fish again!
