I think it's hilarious that your boat is in the living room. I live in a tiny apartment and my Outback lives on the roof of my Blazer. I would keep it in the hallway of the building if I didn't live upstairs.

I hope you are storing it "upside down" on top of your Blazer because Hobie hulls can warp pretty easily especially in the heat on J-racks DAMHIK.

I've got that bad boy strapped in the upside down position. I keep a pretty heavy duty cable locked through it too. We have had a lot of vehicle break ins around the neighborhood and that has me a little worried.

Ok good, just making sure ;)

If you haven't already, I would suggest finding a place to store your kayak (friends garage?) to save on gas money car topping your Outback commuting etc. Just trying to save you some $

Maybe making a public announcement will help me stick to my plan, so here it goes. I recently started taking transit to work, and walking the 2+ miles from home to the train station, and the 2+ miles home. I want to do this 4 days a week. (I have a regular Friday morning breakfast meeting that makes transit impractical.) I don't have any specific diet plan other than to eat more of what I should, and less of what I shouldn't. Just started this week, and so far, I have been keeping on track. My employer has pledged to build a fitness room at work, so I hope I can work in some weights soon.

I also hope to work in some early morning pedaling in place of the walking once the springers start running.  ;)

Good stuff sherm. Its nice to build in some exercise in ones commute. Free exercise really.

I've stopped taking the elevator myself and walk up and down 4 flights of stairs numerous times a day. Its amazing how such a small change multiplied by many days can make a big difference.

LLH, you may want to check with your auto insurance carrier to see if they offer a kayak (or specialty) endorsement off of your vehicle or renters/home owners policy.
I've got my Outback insured for anything from theft to it sinking out in the salt for roughly 3 bucks a month with a 50 dollar one time deductible if anything actually happens.
It's worth it to me. Peace of mind for those "just in case" scenarios. I work in the insurance business and it's changed my perspective on how I cover my personal property.

I'm not sure that I would call it free, since it changes my commute time from 35 minutes a day to 140 minutes a day, but it has other benefits too. In addition to 65 minutes of exercise, I get 45 minutes of reading or resting and 0 minutes of road rage.

Got back in the gym after a long time off. 40 mins of hills on the treadmill incline 1% to 7.5% 7mph to 8.5mph.
5.5 miles for 950 calories! Heart rate between 170 and 185 for most of the 40 mins.

Gotta love the treadmill!

A mile on the treadmill last night at 2%incline. After 12 hours of travel. Might not seem to be a lot but with my mobility and lumbar problems and being severely overweight its a lot. I didnt even go for time. Just distance.

I'm. Definitely not 21 and bullet proof anymore.
As of July 12th, I am, officially,  retired.

Nice work WR! It's important to start slow and slowly build. I severely broke my hip at the rip old age of 28. It took a long slow progression to get to the point where I could run again. Pushing too hard would often result in an injury that just sets you back again. Keep at it!

Hey Rich, seriously consider joining some pool aerobics classes until you reach a lower weight.  You can save yourself a lot of joint damage that way, and it's usually a hell of a lot easier on the back.

As for me, I've been hitting cardio pretty steady, and the heavy bag too.  I've changed up my weight routine for higher reps to build more endurance for now.  Also managed to shed the 10+ pounds of extra biomass I picked up in the early winter (thanksgiving, christmas, excuses, bla bla bla).d

Recently been trying to cut out all the crap sugars that are in most processed foods, and while it's resulted in a lot of excess methane, my energy level is a lot higher and weight is falling off.

I'm telling you, if you think that people are full of $#1t when they say sugars and high fructose corn syrup are bad for you, you are 100% wrong.

Refined sugar ... especially high fructose corn syrup are one of the quickest ways to get fat and Americans are eating more than they ever have.

Cutting out soda is a huge step in the right direction. Lately I have been drinking a ton of coconut water. GREAT STUFF!

I'd say it's 75% diet and 25% exercise. You aren't going to be able to out train a bad diet. I'm a believer in the no carb/no sugar thing. Add a resistance training regime and you've got yourself a fat burning machine in the works. Ketosis my friend, ketosis.

Lol oh yes you can!

But is very difficult and near impossible as a few years pass.

There was a time in my life when I was burning 5000+ calories a day. I was also putting in about 30 hours a week of training and was 18-22. I ate everything and anything .... ah good times.

Haha I was going to say...you were either super human or in your teens haha. That is crazy!
I'm down 25 pounds in just over six weeks. My energy level is way up. All my clothes fit or are getting too big now. I'm swimming in this XL shirt today that I remember being too tight with my belly hanging underneath when I wore it on thanksgiving last year.
I'm still a little way from my goal but I'm leaps and bounds better than I was before I started.
I don't want to turn 30 this year and look like a fat slob. At the rate I'm going I should be "high school skinny" by the summer.
There really isn't any secret to weight loss...diet and exercise, man.
it's as easy and as hard as that.
