I made a temporary mount for my fish finder..... It might become the permanent mount..  lol

wooden dowel shaved down to fit and zipties.  this was how I spent my lunch.

Oh yeah!  That's innovation.  Can't have enough dowels or zipties around!

So now that I've got the new Outback, I want to get it set up with all of accessories that I probably don't need.  I don't have a lot of "play money" left over after my ORC trip so keep that in mind.  If you all could help me out with suggestions, that would be great.

I'd love to see some photos of how you have yours done. Pros and cons are great too.

How to mount my fish finder?  I'm thinking out of the hole for the sail kit.
Where/How to put a rod holder for trolling.  I like how some of you have the rod parallel to the water in front of you.
How to mount anchor cleats?  I'll be putting 2 of them on (front and back anchoring).

I'm sure more questions will follow.  thanks in advance.

You don't need 2 cleats to run the anchor front and back.  In fact, you don't need any new cleats, just one padeye.   I use the cleat that has the down rudder cable in it.  The padeye makes the 1/4 inch anchor line feed  the right way no matter which way you anchor.  Less holes! Less money! 100% satisfaction guaranteed. Also, the rudder down cable is thinner so it fits below the anchor line out of the way.

One thing about the dowel, if it gets wet it will swell.  It is amazing the forces that swelling wood can produce (enter the Jade). It could potentially damage the mast.  1 inch PVC fits well (or was that 3/4).  I made a PVC mount that is easily moveable.

It fits in the forward rod holder.  The foam snugs it up.

The sail mast hole is just the right distance for the GoPro glory shots.  Or in my case shots of me with average fish.

I mounted the anchor trolly last night on the left side.  I was a little ticked off to find that one fot he screws cam with the wrong size nut for it......

I haven't decided where to put the zigzag cleat though.  Either on the outside of the cockpit or hidden within the gear area in front of the cup holder.(right in front of the anchor up handle)  Any opinions on that?

Think self rescue if you fall out of the kayak.  Wherever you put the cleat, will it have the potential of snagging your PFD, or clothing upon re-boarding?  If so, not a good place to put it.  8)

I put my cleat inside the tray on the left hand side. When I self rescue it is below the tray top. Haven't snagged on it yet.

I used the mast hole for my ff on my Revo 13. A question I have is where do you guys run the cable. For now I have run it under the cover and a bit of slack. Is this a bad idea ? As always I am open to suggestions. Also I bought a plastic box to hold battery and protect the cable hook up and i used a drilled out cork for the wires and to protect the attachment point on the battery and I also velcro it to the mast support.

No, it's a great idea.  Lots of folks do it that way.

I have put all my mounts on the right side of my yak for that reason. I like to use my left side for landing fish and getting in & out, so I have mounted nothing on that side. I realize that there may come a time when I can't choose which side I re-enter from, but until that time comes, I re-enter from my clean left side, and leave the clutter on the right.

Same here.  Water Bottle, Paddle, lip grips, plastic shampoo stick, pliers,  all that junk goes on the right hand side.

I think I will put it in the tray, out fo the way.

As for having a "clean side",  you have  a 50/50 chance of ending up on the other after goinginto the drink.

The Anchor trolly and cleat are the only things that I plan to have on that side.
