Hi all,

My name is Simone Burke; I'm a producer at NorthSouth Productions with the job of coming up with show ideas and characters for Discovery Channel, National Geographic and History Channels. I visited the Yukon and was completely fascinated by the salmon culture, so I'm looking to develop a show about salmon fisherman in the Pacific Northwest. Nothing like Deadliest Catch, but more about life on and around rivers, especially during the salmon runs. If you have any ideas, fishermen I should call or if you would like to be a part of the show, please let me know!

[email protected]

All the best,
Simone

Welcome Simone,

Sounds like a plan.  How would you fit kayak angling into it?  I have some other ideas I'd like to run by you too.  Will take it to email.

If you want to feature really bad salmon fishermen I'm in.  My mom always said I had a face for radio so I think that means I'm visually qualified as well.

I'm really open to anything! If you have an interesting life story and profession and salmon fishing is just another element of an interesting, outdoorsy life then definitely shoot me an e-mail and tell me about it! [email protected]

For Salmon Kayak Fishing "characters", check out the recent issue of KFM that we just published this week ...

here's an idea.  you take a group of kayak anglers (my idea so i have to be included  ;D) and follow them paddling, fishing, and camping in almost any location in se alaska.  i'll bring the fly fishing gear so i can be ridiculed all the time because i have to beg for food from those who catch fish  ;).  long paddles, hard fishing, rough camping... what could go wrong?

^^ That sounds cool, I'm in.  My rider requires a bowl of skittles, only the green and red ones.

Is this just a hobby for you all? or a way to make a living? What are your day jobs? Would definitely need to work that in there!

Not a hobby, not a way to make a living.  I'd say it's an escape.  A means of getting away from the less enjoyable aspects of life, and getting in touch with the ocean.  Also makes for some tasty dinners.

For me it's family fun.  Myself, fiance, and now, both my daughters too.

I'm an Army Vet, and when I'm not in my kayak, I'm working with disabled Veterans.

+1

I'd prefer peanut butter M&M's though.

Mechanical engineer here.  Between that, and family there's not enough time for fishing, but I do what I can!

Shouldn't be too difficult to find groups of us on the water when Fall Salmon season starts.  Late July/August through December depending on species.
