Was looking for a good map of North Vancouver Island (never been to Moutcha) and came across the link below.

http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/recfish/Tidal/area25_e.htm

Someone tell me this is not the area where we are planning to hold a fishing tournament because the way I read this --Aug.15 thru Oct 15-- you cannot keep any sport-caught salmon.

Since I've never been there, and nobody else has caught this-- I probably have my head up my arse, but somebody needs to tell me that area 25 is not where we are going.

Oh what a relief that will be.

Richard-- That is the same map I was looking at.
Someone who has been there for the tournament or who knows Moutcha Jim can maybe shed some light on this pending catastrophe.  Looks grim to me.

Charlie-  Only thing to do is go outside the non-retention area and find another spot to gather and tourney on..  Let the search begin..

This says 2007. But it's just parts of the sound, not the whole area. Just the gray and Orange are closed on the map at this link.

Here's the map of the area, showing chinook openings. Follow Tlupana Inlet all the way to the head, and the cove to the right of Head Bay is where the tournament is held at. So no problem, this is the same regs as last year. http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/recfish/Opportunities/PN/A25&125NootkaChinookPN.pdf
