No kayak involved in this 200-lb hali caught at the Valdez Narrows.

I couldn't resist a headline that said, "Big Halibut Nearly Drags Alaskan From Dinghy (+VIDEO)."  The vid shows the elated fisherman dragging the fish behind the inflatable on the way to the beach while he's telling the tale.

Some day. Some day...

   That's quite the fish story......

I think I would have to let that big momma go if I hooked her in my yak.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

That is my goal in life, well I think 100+ butt would be fine! But 200 wouldn't be bad either!

Almost as good a story as Howard McKims 186'er. Almost.
As of July 12th, I am, officially,  retired.

Blasphemy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've heard others doing it.  Not sure I could.  Seriously, I wonder at what point that type of decision would be made?  Would I radio for help?  Would I just cut the line? Would I try to paddle to shore?

That's a great story from Valdez.  Someday.....

I would think that after harpooning it, getting a knife into the gills and getting it mostly dead that I'd try to tie a rope to its tail and then tow it home.

I hope someday to find out if I'm man enough to pull that off ...
