Is a slider the same thing I likely put my weight on when sturgeon fishing?

I joke I joke. :D
Yes. It's the same slider used for sturgeon fishing. Although there are many different style of sliders.

Do make sure, your combined length beyond the slido is SHORTER than your reach with your net.

Use a much lighter leader on the sinker dropper line.

Sliders will also save your ass if you screw up the net job and the weight gets stick in the net the salmon can still run.  I also prefer cannon ball weights to bananas for mooching in the sound.

Me too.  It seems the bananas have a tendency to run higher than the cannonballs.

I like something stiff.  I've been using 30lb mono but I've been toying with the idea of running 100lb mono betwee the Main and Flasher.  You can get away with 20lb mono but if you pick up some salad in your bead chain, the line will twist badly, getting shorter and weaker with each stroke.

I pre-tie sections (few different lengths) with 150lb mono and a duoloc snap on both ends. Nice stiff mono helps a bunch when combating tangles/twists.  I've even used tuna cord and caught fish just fine.  Rig everything (flashers/leaders/etc etc) with big duolocs and you can plug and play all the different components of you troll gear as needed.

That's a pearl!  Thanks Pelagic!

I do this for bottom fishing in the salt as well.  Much less chance of seasickness (for me) when just clipping on a new mono leader to my braid main line than trying to tie a new knot.  I usually bring about 10 pre-tied leaders.

i like the sound of the 150# mono.. i'm tired of tangles and it sounds like a decent solution. have any of you tried those rubber-ish shock leaders? it looks like a gimmick type thing but when spot mentioned less resistance when they;re tasting bait it doesnt seem like a bad idea. any thoughts?
