Takin' the whole gang (3 grandsons, wife and daughter) to DB Friday and plan to get pretty salty. Will take the TI out Saturday for bottom fish.

Sunday my 12 yr. old and I are booked on an all day tuna charter (I'll bring my VHF/gps and mark the hot spots). I'll be picking the cap'n and crew's brains for halibut and big ling secrets.

The rest of the week is open, anyone plan to be there?

Staying at the Worldmark and they don't offer boat parking, any suggestions?

Be sure and ask one of the crew if they're cool with you pulling out a gps.  Some charter captains can get pretty sensitive on where they are going and would rather not have people taking home the exact gps numbers(DAMHIK  ::)).  Might not be an issue since you're going tuna fishing and they tend to move around a lot but it's best to ask and not piss people off.

just turn the GPS on and leave it in your bag.  You'll be able to figure it out later by looking at your track :)

Have fun!

I would assume all routes to any Oregon beach would have been a zoo yesterday.  We hit the Wilson near Tillamook yesterday to beat the heat and there was non stop cars heading west on Hwy 6 all day.

Like the man said:

Only take 99 at 5 AM :)

A bypass for that area isn't going to happen soon and until that happens I always go through Salem.

Tomorrow through Wednesday looks perfect at DB, we plan to finally get the yak wet and catch from bottom fish and Dungies. We spent Saturday buying and rigging our gear and today we went out about 30 miles for Albacore.

I'll post a couple of shots from our tuna charter when we get a decent internet connection. We packed about 50 pounds of Albacore filets tonight. What a great time. My grandson Jesse caught his biggest fish ever (two 20lb tuna). I caught three. Saw two whales, four sharks and six dolphin. Such a worthwhile trip.
