Fantastic teaser -- now I'm checking this thread a couple times a day awaiting the full report. Call it misplaced Alaskan pride. My guess is that this was a trip in Southeast, though Prince William Sound is my second bet. No matter, my hat's off to Bill for his determination, stamina and success. His is no trivial accomplishment: hours and hours in the cockpit of the yak after sleeping on the ground four or five nights.  My joints ache just to imagine it.

The full report will still be a bit out. Waiting to get pics from the rest of the group. Including Howard who is still out on the island for the rest of the week.

Ok ... here is a little teaser. This was the biggest fish of the week. Tough to get a good idea of the size, but it was HUGE!!

I didn't bring home any fish. This is not a meat trip. Normally we just kill what we are going to eat. I miss judged the size of the large halibut that I harvested. We ate on it for three days and still had some fish left.

If I had kept everything I caught it would have been a huge pile. Maybe 3-400 pounds of meat. Frankly I spent a solid chunk of time catching smaller fish because it is damn good fun to hook up on every single cast.

The Alaska length to weight chart puts it right about 80 pounds.
I didn't bring my gaff system with me because I didn't plan on keeping a big fish. Getting this fish in the boat live was a bit scary.
