Just thought I would finally register for the forums after lurking behind the scenes for the last few months.  I've been trying to figure out a way to get out on the water and off the beach for the last few years.  A power boat was out of the question as I have no place to store it and no longer have a truck to haul it with :(.  One day I started looking past the end of my fly line and noticed a few kayakers out fishing and that started getting the wheels turning but then got busy and forgot about it for the most part only to think about it when I was at the beach with my kids.  Well that was about 2 years ago, fast forward to this summer I finally got out of school and got a new job went on vacation and spent some time on a kayak at a lake north of Spokane.  It had been years since I was on a kayak and I forgot how much fun I had in them.  Then I decided one night to try fishing off of it and I was hooked.  I came home found this site and a few others and started researching the brands and what would be best for me.  I wanted a Hobie but that wasn't going to happen on the budget I set aside for myself.  I started looking for a decent used SOT but everyone seemed to be out of my price range or not what I was looking for.  I really wanted the tarpon 120 or a OK trident 11 but I finally found a dealer demo on a 2012 wilderness systems ride 115 on eBay with free shipping.  With a discount coupon I had from eBay I got it for $500 :o.  Not the fastest boat on the water but man is it stable and it has lots of room.  I can take my 3 yr old and 5 yr old out for short trips on the lake with plenty of room.

I've now been bitten by the bug.  First trip out on lake serene in the lynnwood/mukilteo area landed me a couple of nice bass.  A trip to chelan landed my 5yr old and I a few bass and a small Mac.  Now I just gotta get the first salmon.  I've only been out in the sound once so far which didn't go so well.  Could have been the drinks the night before, could have been the lack of sleep, could have been the rough water but it didn't end well....lol (hence the user name).  First time I have even been sea sick and I have been working on boats for years.  The last few weeks have been crazy but starting this week I am going to figure out a way to spend some time on the water at least once a week.  I need the exercise and I am dying for some fresh salmon blood in the kayak.  Now that I have the rod holders installed, cart built, and new line on the pole I have no more excuses it's time to get off lakes and figure out salmon fishing from a yak.  So if anyone wants to show a newbie the ways of the yak angler in the sound and lives on the north end (edmonds/everett area) I am willing to follow their lead.
