Is it too early to start lobbying to hold the next Hobie World Championship in the Pacific Northwest? PNW oceans, rivers, fish, and fishers our much tougher than warm Texas Lakes with their 16 - 19 inch sissy bass?

Congrats Jammer  ... nice job. If you posted scores of day one equal to those you posted on days two and three ... your totals would have put you right in the very top tier. Nice job!

Just a thought.

C

If you were a big corporation like Hobie and the other sponsors, would you want a hugely documented event in a location as rough, unpredictable, and dangerous as ours, or would you put it in a safe bass lake?

It would be fun for NW fisheries to get some attention but...Its all about which fishery has the most appeal to the broadest market.  Bass live most places nationwide so bass, no matter how lame, are accessible to the most people and will always get top billing.  Its not about fishing its about marketing.  Fishing shows, cool hats, stickers, talking heads and tournaments are all about one thing only, promoting the brand.   Whichever locations, target species or talking heads that appeal to the broadest market share are going to get the spotlight regardless of  the quality of the scenery, difficulty of catching the target species or the abilities of the angler.  Nascar versus Formula One is a perfect example of this in the car racing world.

BUT, I do think the PacNW would make a great location for a kayak fishing film!

Am thinking we have too many restricted waters and convoluted regulations to be really welcoming to a tournament like that. Probably scare away most interested big name tournament operators.

Didnt we have someone post here about 6-8 months ago looking to make a film on our regional fishing ?

We're impressed, Michael -- a top 20 finish deserves a big round of applause.  Next time... I'd make book on a podium finish for our guy.

I'd like to see a World Series of Kayak Fishing approach: you've got your bass, of course.  But the world title ought to be a series of skills demonstrated: Chinook, stripers, ahi, halibut, dorado, rainbows...  Cumulative voting -- who scores highest on four of seven species, freshwater and salt, warm water and cold.

And thankfully they couldn't find basis for such a thing here. Maybe they should check out WDFW.

Way to go Jammer! Impressive!

Wow guys ! Thanks for all your positive replies. Its been an experience I will never forget. I haven't had much time to post up any picture's or video yet, but definitely will very soon. I had a long day of travel getting back yesterday due to heavy snow in Salt Lake, but finally thanks to getting rerouted thru Minneapolis. I have a busy day of soccer games and B-day parties, but will try to post some action soon..
Thanks again for all your support!
Cheers

Ho la friends,
Here's a few pics of my bigger LMB action caught from different shaped and colored flukes using a carolina rig. The power plant behind me kicks out 95 degree water in the reservoir at different times of the day. These reservoirs where built in the 70's to provide constant cooling for these coal burning power plants. The 2 lakes we fished pretty much maintain an average temperature of around 75 degrees year round. These lakes provide these LMB's with lots of consistant food and a hungry metabolism.
I'll post much more soon....

Nice work jammer! Must've been great to see some sun and be able to kayak fish in shorts.

Curious about what you think of the Pro Angler.

Personally, I love catching bass. Particularly sunset topwater fishing.   Love that adrenalin jolt of a crashing strike!

So, Jammer do you get to keep the kayak, or will they just peel your name off the side and sell it as a used unit?
