Yeah,  no reverse gear on the Hobie drive.  Ever tried putting the drive in backwards?

Actually, I have  :icon_compress:  and it works,,,,,, backwards.  ;D
I tried it to hold position in current, but not having the ability to adjust and change quickly (like oars on a drift boat) made it pretty useless. It worked with the paddle, but whats the use in that? ::)

Howdy "Fishes from Tupperware",

I like how you at least tried the Hobie drive "reverse" gear by turning it "180".

Sure it may not be of much or any use in actual situations, but it's good that you tried.

I really do get through some shallow waters with the Hobie drive/fins by pedaling with very short strokes with the fins near to horizontal.  I'll probably bend the fin rods one of these days, but life would be boring without it.

All kayaks and people are good and beautiful.  Like colorful leaves on a stream.  I just like to see folks safely enjoying the water.

Totally. Just little baby strokes can get you through water 6" deep. I've put my drive through it's paces and held up to be quite a sturdy rig. Just wash the drive after being in the salt and a spray of WD-40 every now and then. In rivers I'd push one foot forward so the fins are flush to the hull when floating downstream. Depths change really fast and could really torque your rig. But after that I'd say it's all good. I did my first drift in my outback and did really well.
