My fourth try at a Tillamook chinook, and I finally got a fish.

Noah, Jfek, Deafish, Langcod, and I launched at low tide and fished pretty hard all day around Ghost Hole.

Deafish got one too.  Alas, he and I were the only two. I saw one fish caught by a Pbr.

A sea lion actually had their fish by the tail, but they somehow got it back.  That was one pissed sea lion, and it proceeded to follow us for the rest of the day.

I got the impression that all three fish bit as the herring was dropping.  Mine hit right after my first bottom bounce as I was letting line out.  It bounced once, and then did not bounce a second time.  I lifted the rod and felt the fish, but it never really hit, it just picked it up.  It sounded like the Pbrs had the same experience.

I am tempted go back and just try moving really slowly while jigging a herring.  I am curious to see what would happen.

Here is the glory shot.

And what report would be complete without a picture of Langston caught with his pants down:)

I would much rather be up a creek without a paddle than down one.

Very nice.  What did the PBrs say when they say you guys hooking up?  Did you catch any crabs?

Nothing, they just started following us around like sea lions.

Actually one boater had some praise for how I wielded Spot's patented meat hammer technique after landing the fish:)

I caught one crab.

It was delicious.

... Spot's patented meat hammer technique ...
Whoa, Spot patented that? I thought it was on a lease agreement from Chuck Norris..

Be careful, that's some dangerous stuff. Didn't Craig use the technique without supervision and break his camera?
 ;D
My wife thinks fishing is merely guys wandering around like idiots swinging sticks in the air. Many of my trips prove how smart she really is.

You done me proud boy!  Done me proud!

For those of you who haven't yet become meat hammers, a note of caution....  Always remove the hooks before attempting.

Congrats on the nice fish!  I wish I could have joined you. Hey, what's this meat hammer you speak of. I must have missed a good post.

No, I used a bonker.  I don't have Spot's meat hammer fists.  I am delicate, like a flower. ;D
