Success: OK -- this Alaskan would love to see the addition of arctic grayling, pink salmon, sockeye salmon and Dollie Varden char. Think I could get to 10 with that.

Hmmm....

In south central  AK we really only have a crack at 10 species.  Steelhead are out since its zero retention.  I think only one or o lakes hold Kokanee but thy are tiny.  We do have other landlocked salmon in the Kokanee size range: cohos and chinook.  12 inches is a big one.

Looking through my logs I think if we could only add one I'd say pink salmon.  The only other fish considered game fish I've caught are grayling and Northern Pike in the past decade.

Other options might include Herring.  Mainly small but in deep open water I've caught BIG ones.  Maybe 12 to 14 inches.  I drool over cabezon points.  Maybe we could just say sculpin and combine. We have several species of those.

Anyone else from AK have ideas?

I'm thinking about those steelies -- which I've only caught wading the Anchor in days of yore.  I see in the regs that there's no retention whatsoever in the Anchor -- but are they C&R only in the salt too? I don't see that, and I'm thinking that the only way I'm likely to catch one from my kayak anyway is in the mixing waters at the mouths of the few streams we can get to.  I must be missing the restriction.

Do it early so you can get your name on the leader-board before the catches start coming in ;D.

A question....

Has anybody put together a list or spreadsheet or something with the available fisheries, open/close dates, and species at the location for any of our covered states?
