Official 2013 AOTY thread.....

I notice looking at all the cool fish caught this year, your sappose to note the date and state if all info is not listed the fish should not count,a general location should be added list too, And a few of fish seemed gutted?Not the natural state of a fish.  I think a pic with the fish in the kayak or kayak in the back ground should be also, this is also something I need to work on too, as I forget my camera,and its harder to get a pic in the kayak. if this was a rule allot of fish some of mine included would not count.

Being able to note the state was just added a few weeks back and will go along with a few change for 2013. We're also discussing many of the other items you listed.

I've been pondering a few thoughts about AOTY for 2013

Let's add species but be careful of adding too many odd or seldom encountered species.

Species should be targeted catches and not fish that are more often by catch. Some that come to mind as bad ideas would be dogfish, fresh water bullheads, rat fish, any rays, sculpin ... or assorted other trash fish.

The only one that I can think of that holds some merit would be adding cod for the Alaskan guys to help them get their ten fish.

Most importantly KEEP IT SIMPLE!!!

TAOTY.  That would be fun.  Nate and I did  a contest similar the day you went out and caught those nice coho after the Slayride tourney.  Our little competition was to see how many trash species we could catch in one day.  Nate won.

I'll tell you what it was... the low point of my 2012 fishing. I got two in a row out of one of my hot spots. They barf, too.
