Best Little SOT for Kayak Surfing and Diving?

Am considering a second family SOT kayak besides the Hobie Sport. Something small, simple and stable, that I can kayak surf in (goes out through surf well and can also catch waves coming in) and will work well for an ab diving/spearfishing platform, so easy to mount and dismount on the water.

The Hobie is fine for this, but I have it all rigged with fishfinder, etc., which could get damaged in the surf.   I'm looking at the Cobra Strike and Re-vision, the Malibu Mini-X, and the OK Frenzy, Yak-Board, and Big-Yak and Perception Torrent 10.1.

I'm small at 5-8 115 lbs, so I like small, light, easy to load kayaks.  I'll be on rivers too, so that's a consideration.

Any other from experience?  Will try to rent/ test drive them all before I make any decisions.

Hey HS, I was thinking about the Hobie Maui but didn't really see/hear about it's capabilities in the surf. Today I ran across the Hobie Australia site and found this series of pics. Looks like a pretty good surfing yak! And @ 48#'s it's easy to port around. I definitely want to give this yak a test paddle in the surf and rivers. Looks like it could be a good drifter.

Yep, I've been hearing a lot of good things about the Hobbie Maui in the surf.   My other choice would be a Malibu Mini-X, but like you said on my similar thread on NCKA (I think) the Mini-X maybe isn't so maneuverable in the surf.

No worries HS. I think the Lanai is more of a paddling yak. The Maui has the biggest rocker (upturning of the bow) of all the Hobies and that's HUGE in surfing. w/o that you're history.
