I have to get the kayak out and get the skunk off!  I need to get out more in new year, learn the waters and find my goto place to fish.  Also on my list is practice and training for self rescue and playing in the surf/salt.  More play less work (if I can)!!   Happy New Year to all!!

This year I had a 33 hour to one salmon catch ratio. I would like to improve on that in 2013!

That's one helluva profile picture ya got there.  I'm scared, disgusted, and yet I can't look away.

Could any of us really let our biggest fish go without at least a photo as proof? I seriously doubt that I could.

I do it all the time if there's any chance that dawdling will hurt the fish.
Christmas Eve I landed one of my most memorable native steelhead.  Huge, purple chrome, thick as a chinook but dead tired at the end of the fight.  Camera was in my chest pocket.

Sunday I landed my personal best Steelhead ever.  At least 3 feet long and well over 15lbs.  I'm not calling it 20 but it was the biggest steelie I've ever seen in person.  After more than a quarter mile and 30min of chasing the huge buck down, under, around and thru bedrock pocket water I finally managed to coax it into shore.  Even though it was a hatchery fish, given how colored up it was and the fact that it was the most 'worthy' steelhead I've had the pleasure of tangling with, I pulled the hook and immediately sent it on its way.  No pics needed.

I have a newfound respect for the broodstock program.
