Lets be realistic.  Is it a good idea to file a float plan.. you bet.  Will it save your life in an emergency?  probably not. It will give searchers a place to start looking for you but lets be realistic about Search and Rescue response times.  If you fall in cold water either in a tiny lake or river or the ocean and you're are not prepared to deal with with conditions, yourself at that moment, or you are damn lucky you will most likely become a statistic float plan or not.  I use one but its more to keep my wife happy than anything else

+1

Float plans just make it easier to find the body.

And with the risks associated with this type of fishing, that's better than nothing.

Float plans are great, just make sure you tell someone that cares for your well being, I always tell my wife, and someone else, just in case the wife decides to cash in my life insurance.
If it wasn't for flashbacks, I'd have no memories at all.

RIP,  would military polypropylene thermals work well as a base layer?

Knowledge is safety. We should always be educating and listening to each other as it can save lives and prevents loss.

and you can find them on the cheap at Andy and Bax. I've also found some high quality bunny suits in there as well.

I've been using these the last couple of years.  They work well and are cheap.  Found mine at Andy and Bax.  I believe they have fleece "bunny suits" pretty cheap also.

When it's cold, I wear polypro long johns, fleece and the military polypro thermals(They're like thermal sweats).  I may look funny but I stay pretty comfy.

That is my set up as well.  I think they are under $20 for each item.

I have a set of the military polypro too.  Do your tops have a goofy shaped neck with  zipper?

I suppose they could be described that way.  Never really thought about the neck and the purpose of the zipper.

Mine does, but mine doesn't look goofy, it looks sexy.  But I have that affect on clothes.

So you say.  I'd like another opinion.  Do you put the zipper in front or back?

I'll second that.  Craig looks super sexy in just about anything!
