How deep will you be fishing? Why 100 braid? What are you going to do if you get snagged on the bottom?

+1 on Avet Raptors.  Choose the one that fits your line capacity needs.

yes snags indeed, this is the mighty Fraser we are talking about. There are many many many many snags, especially in some of my most productive spots. Hence I use 100lb braid + 96lb braided sturgeon leader
And hope to bring my snag fish to the boat. Lol most of the Time it works out pretty good. If not it will break the hook or snap at the lead swivel, also another reason for plenty of line( who wants to re-spool every week.
I fish often in 100ft+ depths, depending on the season.

are you fishing this 100# braid from a yak?  I would think it nearly impossible to break 100# off when on a yak...

I think you will find as you gain more experience fishing Sturgeon from a kayak that you will want way less than 100lb braid for multiple reasons.

I have plenty of experience I would think.
And still prefer 100lbs braid.
These fish are big, powerful, sharp and can be insanely unpredictable. I have lost many huge fish because was using 60 and 80lb braid that snaps on a small snag or wears fast on there scutes. I have many legitimate reasons from experience as to why I use the line I do.

I prefer 100# salt and pepper tuff line
Seems to break when I need it to and is strong when it matters the most

Now this is why we are here...
Have you held the new 12vsx??
Being the smallest of its series in relation to the TLD how much bigger is it? I know it's around 8.5ounces heavier due to its all metal construction.

Sturgeon Rod

I have no experience with a 12VSX.  I have plenty of experience with a TLD30.  That's about the biggest and heaviest I'd use off a kayak.  If it's heavier than that, no bueno IMO.

I don't think I could do that without flipping the boat when the line broke.

He did indicate not wanting to re-spool all the time, which sounds like he just cuts off instead.  You can get braid really cheap if you buy the 1500 yard spools.  :-)

Let's try it.  I'll run the video!
