Fishing doldrums have set in at my house. Thought I'd get the juices flowing with an old video post!  What can you dig up!

Great vid.  Here's my short compilation of 2011. One non-kayak shot on the short version.  I didn't fish as much in 2012 and the fish I caught I didn't do such a great job with the video:

They have similar clips. One version is 2 min. The other 14.

My only video that turned out well this year.  Not very big halibut but it was a blast!

Kardinal, awesome videos. Is that a Shimano Butterfly Jig at 0:49 on the first video?

I think it's a Williamson speed jig. I use the shimanos as well. Rarely snags, drops fast, catches fish.

Are you targeting one species in particular with the Williamson or Shimano Butterfly? Or will pretty much anything hit them?

Most effective for rockfish & halibut so far. But have caught salmon as well.  Works great for deep water species like yells eye rockfish. Seems to take half of the time to get to the bottom.  I'm a bait guy, but I don't feel at a disadvantage using these for bottom fish.

And those speed jigs are just a blast to fish. I don't mind the workout cuz they are just so much fun.

Hey RR, what about "mt vernon night trout"? That seems like it should be in the nwka best vids compilation.

whoa!  I hadn't seen that before.  That's crazy!!  So what ultimately happened, did it break off?  I'm guessing easily over 100.

Oh yeah, almost forgot about that.  :booty:
I apologize in advance for what you're about to see. But I think I found the secret to catching big fish. White tighties.

After I shut off the camera.. I caught up with her to help.  I grabbed the back of the yak to add some additional drag and it broke off right above the hooks.  She only had a 50 lb leader on, so whatever it was, it was big.  Not sure if it was a halibut or a salmon shark.

We should've just let it drag us back towards the truck, because that day we ended up get blown 7 miles away.  That was a fun yak, hike, load, get stuck on the beach, and not get home til 4 am adventure.
