I made this for a fish id unit. I had it out this weekend and it worked well.

Thought I would share it. The Elite works great with the eagle.

Cool stuff!  Is this boat for flatwater only or are you planning on taking it offshore?

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

That marine plug that you used to hook up your older sounder - those things are amazing.  However, one thing I strongly recommend is you goop the hell out of where the wires go into the plug or wrap it very well with electricians tape so that the wires are fixed solidly to the rubber cover of the plug and can't jiggle around.  The only crappy thing about that plug is that if the wires are pulled out of the plug, you have to put them back in by backing out those little brass screws and re-tightening them around the wires.  As I'm sure you may have noticed, those little screws are very soft and it's extremely easy to strip the phillips pattern off of the head.  Once they are stripped, that plug is pretty useless unless you glue the wires in somehow.  Looks great otherwise!

I plan on taking this in the ocean, bay,river, lakes, and any pond it can fit in. I am waiting on the surf and spring/summer for the ocean runs I live two blocks from the surf. I hope to make it to P.C. and Depoe Bay and hopefully meet up with some of you. I have not been doing this long at all and hope to learn a few things.
I have been salmon trolling already last year, and I am trying to get away this week to sturgeon fish the tillamook bay.
Thanks for the comment

Rawkfish;

Thank you for the information, I am a little guilty of going with the cheaper plug $6. If it fails I will get the better one $18. I do cover all my electronic with dielectric`grease. I have learned in my older age not to be aggressive with the tools. I done contruction for 20+ years and try to think things out first. I will use electric tape to do as you suggest. I noticed the wire was loose.
Thank you for your help.

Nice setup! That transducer arm should work great. Sherminator can attest to that. He has a similar set up. Great work!

Very cool rig. My only thought is maybe a couple of eyepads on the front and back of the mounting base where you could put a bungie or some sort of strap to keep it from popping out of the base for surf going the surf. I'm a huge believer of Murphy's Law. ;)

Thanks Islandson671.

That is a good idea. I will. I keep it stored in the bow of the yak until I am underway, but not to say that fighting a chinook the line could pop it out. I did loose my first rod and real last week It is the only time I did not leash it. I set it in the holder and not very good and all it took was a slight touch and slow reflex and I watched it sink. It was a garage sale trout rod and real I liked the real, but the most important thing I lost on it was my favorite trout lure $5. I was slamming the fish to. Needless to say all equipment and rods no matter how cheap are leashed.
Thanks again for the good idea.
