That was such an awesome vid of the seal!  What operating system are you using? Windows7? Mac OS?

Windows 7.  I'm hoping to pick up Adobe Premiere Elements 10 before too long so I can really play around with the editing.

For all of my HD videos I use the free video editing software that Windows 7 has already on it, Windows Live Movie Maker.  It is an awesome program for being included into a Windows operating system.  Give it a try, you might find you don't need to spend the money on something else.

Rawky,
In the Windows Live Movie Maker, I've figured out how to split video to do various things with a given segment.  However, in some occasions I wasn't happy with where I split it.  Do you know of an option to merge two segments together, or is it just split forever?  I realize it will playback seamlessly, but for moving around segments of movie, it would be nice to lock segments back together just to keep it all straight.

I need to fiddle with the program some more, for sure.

In that circumstance I would probably add the entire clip back into the project, then re-cut it where I wanted it.  Take notes of what the times are for the clip you cut wrong and when you re-add the entire clip back into the project you'll know where to cut it.  Also, check out the "trim" feature.  It will allow you to adjust the length of the clip you cut if you accidentally cut it too short/long.

Thanks a lot for the recommendation.  Windows live movie maker definitely seems to be more than capable of most of the editing I had been planning to do.
