How is the fishing down South out there?  I have gone to dig clams and grab some oysters at Penrose State Park, but never bothered to take my kayak out there.  Where do you launch and fish out there?  My mother-in-law lives at Lake Bay or Bay Lake and tells me I should take my kayak out there to catch some salmon.  I live in Edmonds and like to try other locations in the South Sound.

I know this post is a little dated but its a place to start.
Just moved to Olympia a month ago. I stopped paddling in 2009 and sold all my yaks. Looking to get back into it. So who is in the south sound?
We may live without poetry, music, and art
We may live without conscience and live without heart
We may live without friends, we may live without books;
But civilized man cannot live without cooks

Spencer! Wedged in unincorporated Pierce County's armpit we call Spanaway, or is it Fredrickson this week...
Anyhow, looking to get out around Neah Bay, Wilapa Bay, Grays harbor, Westport, lower Big C, anywhere someone can point me towards decent salmon fishing and getting out safely. I've done Hoodsport the last few falls and had a BLAST from my Yak with big fish on the line. I'd like to give it a shot with fish other than chum though. Just need a helping hand or advice. I usually have 4 day weekends on a rotation and I'm willing to drive about anywhere on the west side of the state..
They might sound ill advised, but when I tell folks of my exploits, it's rare I don't find them smiling

Taken a shot at having a get-together before, we had a small one early this summer in north Seattle, but haven't had much response in the southern area.

Here's a link to the post made in September.  Also, keep an eye out for upcoming group events such as hunting the chums by Hoodsport.

Howdy, Matt.  Several of us in Da Harbor...

Speaking of which, Blake Merwin now has a beer&wine licence at the Gig Harbor Fly Shop, so maybe that would be a great meetup spot.
Junk Jigs "BEST USE OF ACTUAL JUNK" category - "That tape should have been a prized possession and not junk. That will be a collectors item in 30 years!” & “There sure is a lot of junk in there.”

Nice.  Gig Harbor is already one of our favorite places to moor overnight and bar hop.
