Spent a few hours on a beautiful and sunny Saturday with the Veterans and folks from Heroes On the Water (HOW); the first photo is information on Sauvie Island, the second is some of the Tarpon 120 and Ride 135 kayaks purchased at Next Adventure for the Veterans and the last photo is of Anthony Stickel; HOW Portland Chapter Coordinator giving the “Don’t panic if you fall in” speech to some of the Veterans.

Myself, I was landlocked (No kayak) so didn’t get any photos of sturgeon being caught or the Veterans in the kayaks, I am hoping to see some of those photos by the participants of the event.

This was my first HOW event and I went as a spectator, more or less. I was signed on as a Volunteer but didn’t do much to help out, except to deliver 14 bottles of Pro-Cure; hope the Veterans got some good use of those.

Let's see some sturgeon photos

Oh man, I spent a couple of days pressure washing all the mud off the gear and then got into preparing for the Tillamook Bay May Day and never recapped this event. And what an amazing event it was. The weather forecast was not good, but coming over the Sauvie Island Bridge the sun was beginning to rise and shining brightly and it held all day.

After lunch there was just one Veteran with skunk left on him and he went out and smashed 4 in a hurry and one might have been big fish of the day.

Thanks to our own Snarf for being so generous with his secret hole, and for bringing his son along to volunteer. All the reports I received were that that young man was working his ass off out there making sure everyone was hooking up. He is most certainly welcome back anytime, with or without the old man.

Thanks to Anthony Schuman for coming down from Washington to lend a hand and bag his first dino. Thank you to all our volunteers for coming out, Nate, Craig, Skidplate, DBaum, Langcod, Whitewolf, Wobbler and Noah was even able to escape his toddler's clutches and join us at what was probably our best event yet. See you all at Bonneville Bass Bonanza June 6th.
