I'll have to await your report, K84 -- it's the Tour of Anchorage on Sunday and the NSAA already has my registration fee.

On a plane back now. Weather forecast getting worse but still at 3ft. I may have domestic issues I'm trying to avoid. Crossing my fingers!!!

Ok headed to homer. Weather is iffy. I'm an hour out. Beautiful sunny day though!!

Not much time to fish but it looks cold anyways! Lol.

Nothing today. 3 hours was easier than expected. Lots of birds but minimal bait on the sonar.  If I don't get better intel and the weather perfect, I may consider shooting across.

Right now minimal snow. Could set up camp. Will post pics later.

Sorry about pic orientation.

So it's not far. It's just "far" considering the derby is 7 hrs I think.  It's the getting back part at the end of the day.  The wind shifts and I think the tide is dropping potentially adding more time.  I think I'd head for lancanshire rock.  I just know I've had more than once where the crossing back in the afternoon as SUCKED or BLOWN!!! Count on winds picking back.  It's just how much.

Do you fish on the way over?  I don think so.  Lines in a 9am means I'm over there already.  Plus trolling gear just adds drag.  I'm not much for the gym.

I would verify with derby staff and ensure you don't have to check in prior to starting.  2.4 miles sure isnt bad.

That's not a bad idea then really... Pop over, camp, fish and head back in the afternoon.  I've thought of doing something like that.

Doh.  You do have to check in "in person" at the Coal Point Trading HQ on the day of the derby.  Doors open at 7am.  Looks like I will be standing in line to try and get an early start.  It's going to be a long day!

"A representative from each boat must check in with Tournament Headquarters on the day of the tournament prior to leaving the harbor to have your vessel # assigned. ALL VESSELS MUST HAVE A NUMBER ASSIGNED FROM TOURNAMENT HEADQUARTERS. Headquarters on Saturday is located at Coal Point Trading on the Homer Spit and will open at 7:00 am (907-235-3877)."
