Matt or Andy,

Either of you have access to a four wheeler???  If weather allows, the best option for size of fish from what I could gather so far is to launch from about 6 miles south of the Anchor Point launch. I may have access. My other thread on the distance has me looking at alternatives. This won't be easy either. We still will likely be fishing up to three miles off shore. But if we get far enuf down the beach, we should be able to have a shot as close as a mile out.

I'm trying to get a guide from Anchor Point to check the launch out. If the forecast holds I will be back down one day fri-sun. I'll take a look.

Ok. More like 10 miles. Tides are such that it will carry us north initially then be flowing south at the end.  I'm trying to reach at least into the 77ft contour line above.

Arghh...no good solutions.

I just happen to have a 4 wheeler with tracks.  Snow/no snow....we can get there.  It might take a few trips to shuttle everything, but it's doable
No matter how many times the PB's tell me I'm nuts....I still smile every time I out fish them

I'm won't make the Homer derby -- so I'm eager to see  success out of one of the three NWKA members who look to be in it: Kardinal84, RimfireMatt and Kenai Guy.  One of you could be the stuff of legends -- for the right reason only though, OK?  Be safe out there, guys.  I hope you use a power boat shuttle to get across the bay.  We need maximum hours with rods in the water for you to compete well with the power squadron.

I'll see you for the Anchor Point Calcutta, whenever that gets scheduled in May.

I'll bring cake for that one

Ooooo.... That changes things a bit.  My local intel tells me most of the guys in the know will be out by the bluffs.  If you look at the map, the last time we were out, the boats looked to be near 80 ft of water.  We were further north so we were out further, but you can see its deeper closer we get to Homer.  I wonder if there's a closer spot out by Homer.  It's actually a lot closer.

Well still it's an exposed area so weather will have to be perfect.  Lets consider it if the forecast looks good a few days out.  I'll try and round one up as well.

Ok. I got access to a 4 wheeler. Still very weather dependent to hit the bluffs.  But it's a very fishy option with reasonable distances.

Homer dave on the outdoor forums said we could even drive up from bishops beach in Homer. Hmm...

More recon necessary...

Ive got a 6 wheeler with a big meat trailer. Maybe we ought to set up a telephone conference or a lunch meeting so we can all get on the same page?

Hoping to get some launch recon this weekend. Then yah lets set up a conf call after since Andy is in Kenai.  Probably best next tues or wed when we get a little better forecast.

A little leery of taking truck solo up the beach but will take a look at Bishops Beach in Homer if I get down.

I did notice the Whiskey gulch launch road was plowed narrow one way down. If it wasn't the derby, I'd almost try there but it's out of bounds for the derby.

Not that I recall.   If I remember correctly, its just a 2 track trail that follows the beach/bluff for a ways.  I did it in my tacoma, so a 4 wheeler should be easy money.
