Fighting those fees is pointless, and arguably, selfish.

Do you think that WDFW pays for itself, or even worse, do you think that WDFW has a surplus that goes to the State General fund?

Both of those are far from the truth.

So who benefits most from WDFW's spending?

Tribal fisheries, commercial fisheries, and while not a benefit, 'wolf management' is about to start taking a huge chunk out of WDFW funds.

Instead of fighting to have fees removed, which will result in more limitations in fishing, maybe fight to have the commercial and tribal resource consumers pick up more of their fair share.

Besides, are you not a disabled Veteran?  I know how much we pay for our license, and it is nothing to complain about.

having moved here from Iowa, it was tough for me to understand that you couldn't use 2 poles here in WA, so I was excited to learn we could purchase the option, but i also was a bit annoyed that the 2 pole endorsement was only for certain bodies of water, and not anytime  you fish, or anywhere for that matter.  It has also been hard for me to get used to not using live bait such as minnows.  Washington has some crazy regulations for sure.  Having had the endorsement for 2 out of the last 3 years, i think there has only been one time where i had a double, and that was while bottom walking for walleye, so i had my hands full, but managed to reel both fish in.  Of course i would like to pay less, i don't mind paying being targeted by the tax, unlike some other taxes, this one seems to directly affect the resource.

Good point Lee. Furthermore a significant part of the licence fee goes to funding the hatcheries that are the basis of fisheries for Salmon and Trout. I can't imagine there would be many Salmonid fisheries in WA if there weren't 18 hatcheries...

If your a disabled vet send in your paper work I think my combo was somewhere around $10. One of the benefits of serving.

Forget the two pole deal, but remember that Discover and NW Forest Pass; Discover Pass seems to be for the more popular parks near the Columbia River, the NW Forest Pass for the lakes up in the hills. The WDFW pass they give you with your license doesn't work for anything around here.
