Way back in my Coast Guard days we used to say we must go out but we do not have to return. Now if you go out and not all return you are brought up on murder charges. Times and what men are allowed to be have changed. twenty years ago sailors could be sailors. Now you have little wimps working for Janet The Untrusted. As for this situation I would look at my DF and say "Wow the water is at 52 degrees I hope you stay out of it." Times have changed do not depend on the CG. Depend on you and your friends.

...Demonick ... Let others do as they please. If you feel unsafe just wear bigger water wings next time you are crabbing and might encounter a boat wake. ...

Hence, why I said in my follow up post (#5), "In the past I would mention it, now I don't."

I don't want a nanny and I ain't no nanny.  You have no idea of the risks I have taken in the past and the risks I take today.  However, I do pick my risks knowingly, with my eyes open.

There are high-horses and there are high-horses.  If one is not interested in promoting safety on this very friendly NWKA forum in this specific safety oriented sub-forum entitled appropriately enough, "For Safety's Sake", then perhaps one should simply ignore this sub-forum.
  Very well said ....
I think it has to be left up to the individual regarding how much they want to promote safety on the water.  I find no need to criticize if others choose to or not for the sake of having a "look, I made a funny" moment.

I also feel that with some tact,  you can toss out a bit of food for thought to promote safety to others.  For myself,  I just feel better thinking I tried.

I used to think that Bigfoot might exist. Then I saw the reality shows where they are looking for them.  Now I am certain they don't
