For anyone that wants inside information on this fishery stop at Barview Jetty store and talk to Rick. He has fished this bay for a very long time and will tell you where to catch what fish, how to do it , and if you don't have what you need he most likely will. He's not promoting this event this year but the guy knows fish and will give the info for free.

Little Cos and I will be fishing rockfish and perch along the south jetty, dropping crab pots, and maybe trolling for salmon on the way back in.

I've found that the current along the south jetty can really rip in and out, especially if you go out past the bend toward the mouth.  It's hard to hold a position without an anchor AND buoy.   An anchor buoy is a must have out there. When we find a spot, we tie the kayaks together, anchor over one side, and a drift anchor off the other side.  Keeps us in one spot, and away from the rocks.

If you plan to bring an anchor, make sure you have it tied up with a few quick release zip ties, as you may need to flip it upside down to free it.

Looking forward to a great day on the water.

Thanks Shannon for all of your efforts.  Well done my friend.
