Hi!

My name is Alex. I'm from Seattle. I do not have a kayak yet, but on Memorial Day I managed to reenter a SOT (Eddyline Caribbean) 3 times, so with a minimal grade I passed my self-defined exam and I'm ready to continue grasping my kayaking skills.

I do web programming to pay my bills. I'm originally from Moldova, a small, grape shaped country, located in between of Ukraine and Romania. I speak Russian and some Romanian. And some English. :)

I'm new to kayaking, but not new on water. In "before the USA" life, I have been Royal Yachting Association certified Day Skipper, and can handle alone a 40-feeter. I sailed primarily in Turkey, Marmaris area. But here, in Seattle, marina prices make yachting an unexplained luxury.

So kayaking it is. :)

Alex.

Welcome aboard Alex.

I've heard good things about the Caribbean, Eddyline makes some very nice kayaks. I've only paddled their sea kayaks, super light and fast.

Don't hesitate to ask tons questions and use the search button. There is a tremendous amount of information here.

Thanks.

I actually have been reading the forum for a while, and then I realized that I have to register, when I started to come over on daily bases. :)

This forum helped me to discover Hobie kayaks and particularly the Mirage Drive.  I'm totally sold on it. I have a way to go to get a such "thingy", but I'm on my way. :)

Thanks again, guys, for such an awesome community!

Welcome - nice handle ;)  I'm also new to NWKA, and also a web programmer in Seattle (mostly animation-focused (JavaScript/Canvas/CSS3), but doing some fun stuff with Node as a build tool).  I've had kayaks off and on forever, but just got my first Hobie on Memorial Day.

Have you seen the sails you can get for the Hobies?

We need to meet one day. :)

Yeah... I've seen that yak. I'm personally looking at a Hobie Adventure Island. This is pretty much what I want to get.  ::)

Can somebody who is experienced in Hobie Adventure Island kayaks spend a minute and reply to my question? http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=10906.0

Thanks.

Alex.

ORC is coming up.  I'm pretty new to fishing (and will be my first ORC) so some web dev talk might come in handy ;)
