Hit Merwin Reservoir again today and finally got into my first Cascadia kokanee. I had caught a few of these on Blue Mesa Reservoir back in Colorado during my undergraduate days. It was a great day to be on the water. Ran into another kayak fisherman out there making his first attempt at Merwin as well. I put together my first yak fishing video from my time out on the water today. Enjoy.

Thanks for the hoochie and on-water tips.  It was nice to meet you yesterday.

I wasn't on the water until late, and my"school o' minnows" troll with a small spinner down 50' wasn't working.  After meeting you, I switched to the blade/hoochie combo, but no luck.  Probably didn't have the depth/speed dialed in.  Nonetheless, it was a beautiful, windless, drizzly day and we owned the lake most of the time!

Cool video! I know it takes work to edit it down and all that, so thanks. And thanks for showing what you used - very helpful. I might have to try for some Kokanee - looks like good eating!

Tiger Muskies in WA? I had no idea! That is sweet... never caught one, always wanted to. Will have to go on the list... :)

Actually I believe that did happen to me the first time I fished there. I was trolling about 30 yards offshore when all of sudden my light tightens. At first I think maybe I had hooked a log or a rock but then it start running out into the middle of the lake and going deep. I follow it around for a few minutes not really gaining much line. Then I tried to pull up on it to move it towards the surface and the fish wasn't going to have any that! My rod bends in a U as the drag screams and then snap. Gone! So if anyone out there catches a muskie with a pink hoochie in its mouth I want it back.
