Well with the research I have done I didn't find a  definite awnser. I  thought I  ask someone who had some  experience  Anchoring on the river I'm gonna go to. Instead of some where that doesn't apply .

Not sure how location changes the answer, but okay.

Just saying at the klickitat for example ,above the klickitat the water slows a little and below the mouth picks back up was what I meant.some places don't require much weight because the flow is lighter and others in the area pick up speed and requires more.being a" reservoir " not tide influenced but are influenced by the river necking down or widening.

If you're fishing the mouth of the Klick for fall chinook you'll be the only one on anchor. The flow is very slow so I wouldn't think it would take more than 5 lbs but I can't understand why you'd anchor, it's not a wobbler fishery (no offense Wobbler).

They don't taste all that great, but some of the colors are cool.
Try them with your favorite dipping sauce.  :icon_thumright:

I get that and I'm not questioning anything you said.  The answer from outdoorguy1 about why he didn't search the forums and accept general advice about anchors was that the information wasn't about the specific spot he hopes to fish.

I don't know how many folks own a box full of different anchors, but it seems to me they choose one weight based on how heavy it needs to be to hold them in the fastest current in which it's safe to drop anchor, and, like you, they use that one anchor everywhere.  I don't know - I don't use anchors - but I reckon it's better to carry a ten pounder where a five pound anchor might work than it is to carry the five pounder only to find you really need a heavier anchor...

Since your back on anchor weight I thought to see opinions on chain length. I plan to run 4 feet of chain unless someone has more insight.
Scope, angle and length of rope would be speed of current dependant  as far as I've experienced but if anyone wants to chime in that would be great.
