It was nice to get out on the salt for the first time in 2020! Conditions were about what I expected: 4-5 foot swell with a little wind chop early, but it laid down as the morning went on. Black rockfish bit great...almost too great. They kept eating all my big lingcod baits  ::). Took me a while to find the better lings. Turns out they were up shallow: 20-30 FOW. I came away with a limit of blacks and two lings clocking in at 29 and 28 inches apiece. Dampainter had his limit well before me.

excellent.  full marks.

I didn't hit the water until around 1100 today. Kept 1 decent ling and a couple nice rockfish. I released about a dozen similar and smaller lings trying to find a good one. I broke one off. Dammit. I did however gain 3 new sponsors for the AOTY today.
