All, fun fishing and crabbing today!

BUT:

While unloading the car at home I found one mirage drive too many in the trunk:-(
So we accidentally took someone-else's  too.

If it is yours PM me and we'll arrange on how i bring it to you asap!

Nice showing of 10 kayakers out there today. Marked lots of (unknown type) fish going past Coast Guard so trolled for Salmon for about an hour.  Had one takedown, fish tore a chunk out of my herring... just forward of hooks!  Wind picked up so went to jetty. After about an hour of no bites, caught 5 keeper black rockfish before wind picked up some more. Almost 5 hours on water, good exercise!

Bumping to the top as I have not received a response yet. Most of the attendance of yesterday has meanwhile been ruled out.

Even though my success rate was not good on sat I had a great time learning the bay a bit and putting some faces to names. Thanks for all the tips from everyone.  Looking forward to making it out again.

I'd be happy to go again on another weekend when it isn't quite so windy. It was a little challenging turning around so much.

My boat was weathercocking so badly made drifting the jetty pretty frustrating.  I also figured out I need some different jig sizes.  I had up to half oz and 3oz and up.  Need a bit of a selection in between.

Ya it was pretty sporty in the wind, not unfishable though. I had fun. Keep an eye on morning low tides between 0800 and 1200 we can launch a couple hours before low.

I ONLY use 1/4oz jigs out there. And SMALL gulp jigs. Usually do really well

Alright. Good to know.  Maybe it was just drift speed but I felt I had a hard time staying down with the 1/2oz jigs.

I caught all my rockfish on single 1/4 or 3/8 oz jig with gulp minnow 3rd from top. Top minnow is actual fish barfed out from rockfish, a close match. I use a light rod and constantly cleaning weeds off hook, if there are weeds on hook you aren’t really fishing.

If I was going after Lingcod I would use heavier gear, like Mojo was targeting.

Good to know.  I had some swim baits with me very similar to that top one.  Guess I should have given it a shot.
