Looking like the ocean isn’t wanting us to play this coming weekend (I got the date right this time) so planning on fishing the bay Saturday or Sunday. Not sure what day yet. Post up if you want to join and what days better for you. Open invite fir clamming, crabbing, and rockfish. Will be around 0800 launch behind the fish cleaning station in Garibaldi.

I am a tentative go.   Do you usually drop one or two pots for crab?  Rockfish is lighter gear in the bay right? Trout or bass spinning setup and 1oz jigs or less?

Mojo, curious how you evaluate wind for this trip. I am seeing forecast of 14mph from the NNW by noon, more later. I assume wind from the north is preferable due to the head, but how much is too much.

I mostly fish Garibaldi for perch and have learned to shy away from anything over 10-15mph from the south, however I've had mixed results when the wind is from the north.

Dunno about Mojo, but unlike the ocean when I look at wind, it seems like in general if you get out and off the water by 10 you don't see much wind in the bay, usually it's pretty consistent this time of year and always only windy in the afternoon. Now the bay is kinda weird sometimes all on it's own, some days there's been no forecasted wind but I've seen those days be unfishable sometimes cause it's too windy  ??? When I wanna fish the bay I just go and hope I'm there on a calm day. It's an easy ride back to the truck if it's too bad.

At Lytle right now with the grandson learning how to paddle a Cobra Fish-N-Dive
Like T said wind is usually worse in the afternoon but we’re usually rolling back in before it gets to strong. I have cut the day short because of the wind.

2-3 pots depends on what boat I take, light tackle but do bring some lingcod gear. The jig head is from https://www.zrcustomtackle.com (Smilinkayaker and kids own it) and a Burkley pink and green grub. Bring 1/2 oz up to 3 or 4 oz and if you got the know how tie up some croppie rigs ( two hooks on loops between your main line and a jig head) Burkley gulp minnows and “pogie” Tails (likely spelt wrong) in 2-4 inch swim baits.

I got 3 confirmed going for tomorrow, in the lot 7:30-8:00 launching no later then 8:30 with low tide at 10:15.

Edit: clams on the way out, crab pots and bottom fish, there are pb’s trolling for salmon on the north wall so there starting to show up.

Nice reasonable time for launch...I will do my best to make it too.  Need to get somethings sorted with crab traps and gear, but thinking I should be good to go.   What's the launch like there? Roll a cart down to the water?

Drag the yak across 20 feet of grass to a morass of mud and rocks, then depending on the tide, another 20 to 50 feet to the water

We usually team carry them to the water, it is muddy so don’t wear your church shoes, I wear zip up surf boots.
