I have one of the inexpensive Garmin Striker 4 fish finder units. It has a very small screen. With that unit and the 18V battery I've gone 5 or 6 hours on a single charge. Can't say how long it would actually have worked because I run out of juice peddling before the battery does. I can't speak for the larger fish finders but I found it to be more than adequate. However good info folks should certainly test for themselves with their own setup.

I have a 9AH with a 7" Lowerance Elite2, I keep it at the brightness where I can barely see it to make it last an entire trip.

A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,

I never considered using a power tool battery to power kayak gear. Can someone please provide a picture of the adapter used to connect such a battery to a fish finder? What is that part called, and can it power a small trolling motor? Thanks in advance!

I just saw your request.  I purchased a battery dock power connector off Amazon which I mounted into a small waterproof case.  Used a power step down converter to drop voltage to 12v.  It has waterproof female SAE pigtail connector plus a waterproof dual USB plug.  This setup allows me to utilize my Dewalt batteries for power and is readily portable.
