Our family is tired of winter, so for spring break we're heading down to the OR coast. 8) We'll be in PDX over the Mar. 28-29 weekend and drive down to the coast on Monday.

We snagged some reservations at Sunset for the 30-31, and then up the coast at South Beach State Park, near Newport, April 1-2. I'll definitely be bringing fish gear ans should be able to manage the wherry, too. Would love to hookup with some of you South Coasters, even if only for a meet and greet. Best chance for me to get out will probably be on Tuesday, the 31st.

Would it be advisable to bring a crab pot?

Cool PS, well have to hook up for sure. We could probably wrangle up a Kayak for you to use if you wanted to get out on some plastic.

If you want to catch some crabs, i'd bring a crab pot, makes it a little easier... >:D . If the weather is nice, we should maybe have a crab/fish feed.
See ya on the water..

I will be praying for calm seas.

Bringing the boat since I'll probably have to take out Janni, too.

Will 50' be enough for the pot line?

50' should be good enough for dropping the pot right outside the middle rock

When I tried to get out on Thursday I saw a guy dropping pots in side sunset its self. Not sure how he did, but if you can get them out of there you would only need about 20' rope. I think I might give it a try this week.
Enjoy the ride!

I think i saw that guy a couple days before that dropping pots on the inside. he either did good and came back for more , or is really persistent. The outside of the middle rock is about 25-35 feet.

Noaa and Magic Seawwwd say that Tuesday morning is going to be the best conditions in a while. 5' swell and 1' wind waves. I'm going to shoot for an early launch. http://magicseaweed.com/Coos-Bay-Surf-Report/320/

I'll give CBY a call on Monday evening.
