Our family is tired of winter, so for spring break we're heading down to the OR coast. 8) We'll be in PDX over the Mar. 28-29 weekend and drive down to the coast on Monday.

We snagged some reservations at Sunset for the 30-31, and then up the coast at South Beach State Park, near Newport, April 1-2. I'll definitely be bringing fish gear ans should be able to manage the wherry, too. Would love to hookup with some of you South Coasters, even if only for a meet and greet. Best chance for me to get out will probably be on Tuesday, the 31st.

Would it be advisable to bring a crab pot?

Cool PS, well have to hook up for sure. We could probably wrangle up a Kayak for you to use if you wanted to get out on some plastic.

If you want to catch some crabs, i'd bring a crab pot, makes it a little easier... >:D . If the weather is nice, we should maybe have a crab/fish feed.

  Welcome to Sunset bay!!  I have a Tarpon 140 &  OK Trident 15.7 your welcome to use. pray for calm seas,, Could use my smoker to capture some crabs if its not kayak friendly.. Royg

Bringing the boat since I'll probably have to take out Janni, too.

Will 50' be enough for the pot line?

50' should be good enough for dropping the pot right outside the middle rock

 When I tried to get out on Thursday I saw a guy dropping pots in side sunset its self. Not sure how he did, but if you can get them out of there you would only need about 20' rope. I think I might give it a try this week.

When I tried to get out on Thursday I saw a guy dropping pots in side sunset its self. Not sure how he did, but if you can get them out of there you would only need about 20' rope. I think I might give it a try this week.

I think i saw that guy a couple days before that dropping pots on the inside. he either did good and came back for more , or is really persistent. The outside of the middle rock is about 25-35 feet.
