dag, wali, time for you to get a waterproof cell phone baggie and leash the puppie to ya!  :confused2:

i was thinking. stick the phone in a piece of Pool Noodle..

Yep, or a couple of key floats like my cameras. This guy's got plenty of leashes, but there is a limit to the number of leashes I want to use. I can imagine the boat sitting upside down looking like a Portuguese Man-o'-war thats caught a rod, a paddle, some tools, and a idjut. ;D
Oh well, just one more thing you don't have to ask about. ::)

Actually, now that I look at it, I think I should have opted for the Type-S model instead of the Boulder. It has a loop for a leash and the Boulder is slick (like a rock)

The replacement is coming today. Guess I'll keep this one in a pocket instead of outside on the vest.

How many phone calls do you take while on the water?
So far, I am either in a "no cell service" area, or have my phone stuffed away in that dry box from Harbor Freight.
I'm busy, everything else can wait till I am not busy.  The wife knows this, therefore no worries of missing a call from her.  ;D

Are you kidding? Nothing spurs a bite like you wife or mother calling.

I've got a similar electronics-type dry bag for my VHF. Eventhough its waterproof, the audio is almost uninteligible when the speaker is wet. The bag has two clamps and a frame that are supposed to keep water out. After rinsing everything off at home at the end of the day, I've noticed a bit of water inside. Worse yet, after trips on the salt, I usually just fill a big bucket of water and dunk everything 2 or 3 times. The dry bag then has more than a small amount of water in it. This would easily equate to a huli through the surf zone.

Moral...test the waterproofness of your dry bags before trusting them to delicate electonics.

Oh I have a couple of "Don't Asks" for so called "Dry Bags" and I don't think I'd trust an iphone or a palm (or any phone for that matter) in that nicely clamped bag. An early expensive 2 mp (:o) camera bit the dust in one of those that was very carefully sealed.

For my camera and cell phone, I keep a clear Pelican case clipped in close by.

Ram makes an Aquabox w/ mount for the iPhone and others complete with a flexible membrane that you can operate the hpone through.  I'd get one, but the Blackberry trackball doesn't work through it  >:(

FFTW there's a reason you moderate a forum called "Don't ask me how I know" :D Not sure if the same rules apply to us.. I kid I kid. I've had one of the Aquapac drybags for my cell which I've used for at least 3 years now with no trubs. Just one of those things though. No matter what you bring on board there's a chance you ace it in the process.
